Vacation is over #SadFace

Ever go on vacation and when you get home you actually miss being away? Don't get me wrong, it's nice to come home. It's nice to be with the pets again and in your own space. But there's something about the relaxation of a hotel. You literally get up in the morning and decide where you are eating that day. And the exploring something new. So, yes, for a few weeks after I get home, I'll wake up a few days and actually miss being away. It sounds weird, I know.
Maybe it's because I'm the Mom. I cook. I plan the meals. I clean. I do dishes. I do laundry. Then whatever time is left is for me. So vacation is really much needed time off for me, lol. All three of us cooped up in one room? Not so much, but I'll take it. LOL.
I love the beach, but I don't like to do anything at the beach. (I mean, really, there's only so much mini-golf you can play. Am I right?) I'm the girl who likes to find a good spot on the sand, take up residence, grab her book, and just veg in the sun (or under the umbrella). Closing my eyes, feeling the heat on my skin, and listening to the ocean is my perfect. (not so much for a teenage boy, lol. To him this is boring!)
I don't need to plan a full week of things to do at the beach. Just give me a balcony that faces the beach, and I'm happy for a week just being on the shore, and looking at and listening to the ocean. I always felt destined to retire on the beach somewhere, but my fair skinned, redhead husband may object to that - Ha!
So, yeah, I'm just sitting here, missing being away.

Oh, and the whole time I was in Norfolk, VA, I kept thinking about the tv show NCIS and Special Agent Gibbs, lol. (I would've gone total fangirl had Mark Harmon actually been in Norfolk for some reason 😏 )

Oh, and vacation was bad for my diet. I did eat two salads, and my husband teased me both times, but I was trying to be good - and they were delicious!
But I think I've proven over and over again, if there is "bad" food available to me, I WILL eat it. I have ZERO self-control when it comes to some foods. That's where having a junker of a car comes in handy. I have no desire to drive around in a car without A/C, hence I don't go out to get junk food or sugar laced anything.
I am starting to be a little strict on what comes in the house too. I don't want sugary or salty things hanging around. But I'm going to start being even more strict, and I'm sure the teen will NOT appreciate that. It is what it is. If that's what I need to do, then that's what we will do.
(Mr. G's smoked mac n cheese did me no favors on my diet lately! I am not a fan of mac n cheese, but I love this recipe. We'll have to save that for special occasions, because it's too delicious, lol.)

I can dream about hotels and the beach all day, but I'm back to adulting. And slowly but surely getting back into the swing of writing Melting the Ice. And I'm considering joining a gym! Wish me luck!
